Rumours & facts unveiled

Loni Sanders, by Earl Miller

Biographical facts

Most sources mention january 12th 1958 as Loni Sanders her day of birth. Erroneously, though, some talk about 1962.

Her father was an American, her mother Japanese. Aliased Haiku, she has been paraphrased about it in Penthouse Magazine, april 1980:

My American father and Japanese mother met when he was working as a reconnaissance pilot during the Korean War. It was love at first flight – and I was the happy result!

Once a working-girl her modeling career started in Hollywood, when she was discovered by Rupert Daines, a well-known photographer for popular men's magazines in the late 1970s. Soon enough she got invited for several softcore shoots for Genesis, Hustler and the like. Eventually this also resulted in appearances in some adult Swedish Erotica loops.

Marriage & relationships

It was due to her relationship with pornstar Michael Ranger that Loni Sanders got into the real big-budget world of hardcore, in 1980. She met him during a photoshoot, married him and played opposite to him in several X-rated shoots and movies.

But things changed soon afterwards, when she ran into Steven Hirsch, the young owner of the recently founded Vivid Video studio. Loni decided to leave everything and went living with him. She worked in his company in a step-and-fetch-it capacity, taking occasional 'cameo roles'.
Gossip-writer Luke Ford recalls a testimony of her friend Gynger Lynn about that period:

Lynn told a story about how she, Loni Sanders, Lisa DeLeeuw and Steve Hirsch went to Gladstones. "We sat down and talked about what it would be. Lisa and Loni were putting the company together and Steve was going to sell the movies because he had a list that was his dad's. We would go to the distributors and I'd sign posters in the warehouse. We'd fly and share a room when we traveled to promote things. It was low budget, getting it together. The girls were getting this thing going."

But the guy was a womanizer and a cocaine addict. Loni held it out for a long time, before she finally left him in sorrow. Luke Ford brought him up an imaginary stage a few years later, in 1999, en let him say:

"I wish Loni Sanders was still with me. Fifteen years we spent together, and I also got to boff every cutie that came through my office. But she left me for Marco at Metro..."

That would be Marco (...), former head of Metro Studio, apparently her boyfriend now. Remarkable enough his alter ego on Yahoo Groups lets Loni Sanders her admirers know:

I will say that she is great, beautiful and amazed at her fan loyalty and appreciation.

Well now...

Aliases

Sometimes Loni Sanders her name is misspelled as Loni Saunders (e.g. in Up'n Coming) or Lonnie Sanders.

Besides that she ocassionally is referred to as:

Jeannie Ralph

Those who allege Loni Sanders was born in 1962 also often mention Jeannie Ralph as her alias. Both are not true. There is a little known country & western singer by that name, but she's got nothing to do with her.

Terri Galko / Terry Galko

In Sex Boat Loni Sanders accidentally was credited as Terri Galko. This, however, seems to be a confounding with another, less known actress (mainly known from All the Action, in 1985). The nicknamed Loni Sanders in Yahoo Groups explains:

I don't know how to prove I'm the one and only Loni Sanders. But I can tell you that I am NOT Terri Galko. Terri Galko is a real person who was in the business around the same time as me. She was a tall redhead, and somewhere, our names became mixed up.
